Signs + Wonders Series

I've been asked by our own students to do this the last few years. When I read these stories using my skill of curiosity, I start asking questions like....

• How much freewill does a person have?

• Is this a story about power narratives?

• Is this about a chosen group of people? 

• Am I comfortable with God loving one group of people more than another?

• Did the Egyptians "deserve" what happened to them?

And while some of these questions feel like an obvious yes or no, some of these stories make me wonder how to rework my reimagined theology.

With students, we are reading this thinking about the purpose of the plagues. I want students connecting things like...

• What are the plagues? Do I believe these plagues could happen?

• What does it mean to know God in my context?

• Who are people in power today that want power but are doing destructive things in the process? To me, this feels specifically applicable with what's happening in Gaza right now.

This is a 8 week series including a bonus lesson.
