A faith for the curious kids, students, and the grown-ups who love them.

Zippee Kids exists to help kids and the grown-ups guiding them nurture curiosity, center love, and build a faith that makes room for big questions.

Hi, I’m Sarah

I've always loved learning and teaching and I actually got my Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, and during my first year of youth pastoring I also taught Pre-K. The shift to working in a church instead of an elementary school eventually carried me through seminary, where I earned my Master of Divinity with an emphasis in eco-theology, because I believe the earth has as much to teach us about God as any textbook ever could.

Over the years, I’ve served kids, teens, and families in classrooms, churches, and now here at Zippee. Along the way, I’ve become passionate about creating space for conversations around grief, identity, embodiment, and belonging, especially in places where theology has been used to shame or silence. I design my work to be LGBTQIA+ affirming.

I’m also a mom to two incredible daughters who inspire me to reimagine what faith formation can look like. I don’t have parenting all figured out (who does?) but I’m constantly learning from the kids around me—and trying to write resources worthy of their brilliance.

When I’m not writing curriculum or wrangling ideas, I’m drinking Stumptown coffee, chasing my Australian labradoodle Briggs, or taking my girls to the Oregon Zoo. This work is personal, pastoral, and a little bit playful. I’m so glad you’re here.

Why I created Zippee Kids

Zippee Kids grew out of years spent trying to make existing curriculum work—and realizing I was doing more rewriting than teaching. Week after week, I found myself editing out fear-based theology, adding inclusive language, and reshaping lessons so they actually reflected the values I was preaching and parenting with.

Eventually, I stopped tweaking and started building something from scratch.

Now, Zippee Kids is the resource I wish I had back then: ready-to-go lessons that make room for questions, honor kids’ full identities, and help grown-ups guide faith conversations with intentionality.

That includes parents/guardians, too. Whether you're answering tough questions at bedtime or trying to raise spiritually curious kids, Zippee Kids offers gentle guidance, just-enough structure, and support that meets you where you are.

Everything I create is shaped by my experiences as a pastor, a parent, and a person still using my skill of curiosity. My hope is that Zippee Kids helps you do the same—with joy, with intention, and without needing a degree in theology.

What families long for is a trusted guide who cheers for them. Sarah cheers—she is so completely for kids. She delights in helping families thrive. And she's trustworthy, from her theological training to her pastoral practice to her resources. She's put in the work to become, in my opinion, a leading expert on the future of family faith formation.

Where My Curiosity Comes Alive

These are the ideas and practices I return to often—the things that ground me, challenge me, and keep me dreaming about what the Church can be.

Writing for Kids and Communities

Designing curriculum and shaping 0–18 spaces that help kids grow spiritually alongside the adults who love them is one of my greatest joys.

Liberation and Queer Theology

Learning from those that have been marginalized and identifying where my own blind spots are on these topics.

Pastoral Care that Walks With People

I think there's something sacred about sitting with people and being entrusted with parts of their story.

Leading Side by Side

As a co-pastor, I believe in collaboration, shared leadership, and building church spaces with less hierarchy and more room for everyone’s voice.

Wrestling with the Text

I care deeply about understanding the Bible in its context so that we can understand the Bible in our context.

Church Planting + Progressive Ministry

I’m passionate about creating and nurturing spaces where people can meet a Jesus who's good news is good news for everyone.
